Making preparations to ensure a pleasant Museum visit
The Museum’s entrance is at Zeestraat 65. The pavement features a slight incline towards the street. While it is wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair, the paving can be uneven in places.
By taxi or minicab
Taxis and minicabs can stop in front of the Museum entrance, by the Hilton hotel. This side of the street offers enough space for a wheelchair to manoeuvre.
Parkeren
ParkKing car park Mauritskade: Entrance on Zeestraat at number 35-37, exit on Mauritskade 4.
The distance from the car park (Mauritskade 4) to the Museum is approximately 200 metres. There is a stair lift located by the car park exit. The button to operate the lift is approximately 30 cm above the ground.
The Museum is at ground level, but the platform to view the Panorama painting is accessed by means of a spiral staircase with 23 steps. This staircase has handrails along both sides.
Stair lift
There is a stair lift present (pictures at the bottom of this page) but due to the Panorama’s listed status, its capabilities are somewhat limited:
The lift can support up to 220 kg (wheelchair included).
It can only carry wheelchairs that are 62x80 cm or smaller.
An electric wheelchair will not fit on the lift.
The stair lift cannot be used by more than two visitors per hour.
A staff member will operate the lift.
Need to use the stair lift? Email info@panorama-mesdag.nl to book the lift.
Unfortunately, the Museum is unable to accommodate mobility scooters. We advise you to borrow a wheelchair from the Museum.
Wheelchair users
There is a wheelchair-accessible toilet located on the ground floor by the Museum Café. There are grab bars by the toilet and a pull-cord alarm for emergencies. Doors are 90 cm wide and thresholds are 4 cm high.
Baby changing facilities
There are baby changing facilities in the women’s toilet on the ground floor by the Museum Café.
There is a cloakroom in the lobby by the ticket desk, with lockers at various heights to store bags or other items.
The ticket desk at the entrance is 115 cm high. The museum shop counter is 103 cm high. Both cash registers have card readers with long cords, allowing them to be moved if necessary.
Tables in the Museum Café are 73.5 cm high, with a single central support. The café counter is 90 cm high. Again, the card reader has an extra-long cord.
The Museum has wheelchairs available to borrow. It is advisable to book your wheelchair in advance. Please get in touch so we can have it ready for you.
There are also two folding stools available. These can be found hanging by the lockers in the hall.
There is an audio tour available for the permanent collection on display in the first three Museum galleries and a tour about the Panorama. More information on this page or you scan the QR code at the Museum.
There is a Museum volunteer stationed on the Panorama platform who can tell you all about this panoramic view of Scheveningen.

Assistance dogs are welcome at the Museum. Pets are not allowed

In accordance with fire regulations, no more than two wheelchairs are permitted on the Panorama platform at one time due to the stair lift’s limitations in the event of an evacuation .
